The 5 Best Laptops for School in 2021

Today we are going to compare five of the best laptops you can buy for your children’s studies. What matters here is not just getting a device that works for writing documents, building presentations, or joining video calls. We want a computer that also gives them room to create different kinds of projects, whether they want to program a video game, learn animation, start a YouTube channel, build a website, or explore something else entirely.

By the way, we offer courses where children and teens learn how to create those kinds of projects. If you want more details about the curriculum and registration, you can visit robinacademy.com.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet

The first laptop I would recommend is a strong option for families with a tighter budget. It is the Lenovo Chromebook Duet, and as the name suggests, it runs Chrome OS. One of the most attractive things about this device is its form factor: it can be used as a laptop, or you can detach the keyboard and use it as a tablet. Its price is also appealing, at around 5,600 Mexican pesos, or about 280 USD. A Chromebook does have limitations and cannot run every program, as I explained in another video, but it still makes the list because of its price and its practical 2-in-1 design.

ASUS VivoBook

We also have the ASUS VivoBook with Windows 10, in a similar price range of around 5,000 Mexican pesos, or about 250 USD. Like the previous option, it comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It will not be the ideal computer for heavy gaming or professional software, but it is still a good starting point for many of the projects I mentioned. And if the goal is to learn web development or build simple applications, it should work just fine.

HP Stream

If you can stretch the budget a little more, the HP Stream costs around 7,500 Mexican pesos, or about 375 USD. It also runs Windows 10, which means it can download more programs than a Chromebook. It has the same storage and RAM as the previous laptops, but with a better processor. That gives it a bit more performance for programs that rely on graphics, such as video editing or photo editing.

Acer Aspire 5

Next is the Acer Aspire 5, which increases storage to 128 GB while keeping 4 GB of RAM and Windows 10. It also includes a more modern processor than the previous options, and it costs about 10,500 Mexican pesos, or roughly 525 USD.

Surface Go 2

Finally, one of the strongest options on the list is the Microsoft Surface Go 2. Like the Chromebook I mentioned earlier, it can also function as a tablet, but the advantage here is that it runs Windows 10 and supports a wider variety of software. It includes 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and an Intel Pentium processor. It costs around 11,200 Mexican pesos, or about 560 USD, and it is a very strong choice for school.

Which one is the best, and which one should you buy?

I put this list together so families can find a good option that matches their budget. If the budget is limited, the first or second option I mentioned would be a solid purchase. If budget is not a major concern, the Microsoft Surface Go 2 is excellent. Especially for children in elementary or middle school, these devices can be incredibly useful, even if they want to create technology projects like the ones I mentioned at the beginning of the video.
